Q Why do I need to pledge if I put cash in the collection plate?
A Immanuel can only offer programs based on the financial support that has been pledged. The Vestry cannot pass a budget or offer programs unless there is pledged funding to cover costs.
Q I’m reluctant to pledge because my income may change. What if this happens?
A Making a pledge is not binding or irrevocable – you always have the freedom to revise your pledge if your circumstances or priorities change. Contact Immanuel’s Treasurer if this situation arises.
Q My donations to Immanuel are small, so why does it matter if I pledge or not?
A Making a pledge is about more than a financial gift. It’s a covenant between you, God and the church community. It’s meaningful from a spiritual standpoint.
Q How can pledges be paid?
A Pledges can be paid in many ways – cash; check; online; regularly scheduled automatic withdrawals from a bank account or charges to a credit card; securities of publicly traded companies; and/or Qualified Charitable Distribution from a Traditional IRA sent directly from your financial institution to Immanuel to count toward Required Minimum Distributions. Q How do I determine an appropriate amount to pledge? What do others do?A Making a decision about your pledge is a personal decision. Each person will decide differently. Many people find the Proportional Giving Chart useful to help determine the amount of their pledge that best fits their income.
