Music-Making Opportunities
for All Ages
Especially with Christmastide approaching, there are numerous opportunities at Immanuel for people of all ages who enjoy making music:
JOIN THE IMMANUEL CHOIR: If you have enjoyed hearing the Immanuel Choir, perhaps you would like to join us for Advent or Christmas or both. We welcome anyone who would like to sing the special music of the season and it is a very short commitment but a lot of fun. If you have questions, please email Jane Tavernier, Director of Music.
IMMANUEL'S ANGELS ARE COMING: Now’s the time to join our children’s choir. All children ages 3 ½ and up who are interested in this wonderful opportunity are invited to join us. The time commitment is about an hour on Wednesday evenings, plus the 9a.m. Sunday Eucharist only one week per month. No experience necessary. Come to our first rehearsal on Wednesday November 29th at 5:30p.m. in the Parish Hall — dinner is provided for children and parents. They will perform at the 9:00a.m. Children’s Service on December 3rd. Interested? Contact Roz Kerns at (703) 402-4677, or John Hogg.
BELL RINGERS NEEDED - NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY: We have 2 spots to fill for Christmas Eve bell-ringing, so this is a very short-term commitment -- and it is fun! Our rehearsals are from 6-6:45pm on Thursday evenings in the narthex at Zabriskie Chapel. We play fairly easy music, and if you can count, you can ring bells. Please consider joining us for a few rehearsals and Christmas Eve. Questions? Contact Jane Tavernier, Director of Music.
THE IMMANUEL CHAPEL BELL TOWER TEAM IS TAKING ON NEW BEGINNERS: A message from Rob Gibson:
As I'm sure some of you heard, we rang the Immanuel Chapel bells following the Convocation Evensong in October, and also on All Saints. We continue our weekly bell ringing practices, plus occasional special events, and we have also had opportunities to host a few different groups of visiting English ringers (both in Oct and upcoming in Nov). We are ready to take on new beginners this fall, so get in touch if you would like to try an introductory lesson. The practice signup site for Nov is below -- or email me with questions.
