The Rev. Rachel Rickenbaker
The Rev. Rachel Rickenbaker serves as the Assistant Rector at Immanuel Church-on-the-Hill. She works in a variety of ministries and capacities, though her primary oversight is with Pastoral Care, Newcomers and Evangelism, and Church Communications.
Rachel grew up in Montgomery, Alabama, but moved as a teenager to West Virginia. She attended Shenandoah University, in Winchester, VA, earning a B.A. in Psychology as an undergraduate. While there, she also studied and earned certificates in Religion and Spanish, and played the bassoon in the school’s Orchestra and Wind Ensemble.
In more recent years, she graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary and was ordained a priest in 2016. That same year, she married her fellow seminarian and priest, James, and they moved to Stafford, Virginia, where James serves as Assistant Rector at Aquia Episcopal Church. They live with their two mischievous cats, Callie and Eden, and have a little girl on the way.
Rachel has a particular passion for Stewardship of Creation, as well as a love of liturgy and preaching. She loves sharing the love of Jesus and prays that Immanuel will continue to grow in their love of and devotion to the Lord, as well as always work to spread the good news in word and deed.
