The Christian faith is not only suited for times when all is going well. Ours’ is a faith that squarely acknowledges the darkness, but which also believes that the light will eventually triumph. As the glorious prologue to John’s Gospel says: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5).
Some Immanuelites have asked whether, given the wars going on in the world and personal challenges some people are facing, we might have a service of “Blue Christmas”, as we have offered before, to acknowledge the darkness while also pleading for the light. Join us for a simple service in the Parish Hall, where we will do just that.
