Help keep our new trees alive at Immanuel!
We need your help to keep Immanuel's trees and other plants at our Zabriskie property alive and thriving through the hot summer months.
Please click on the bright green button above to sign up for a shift of watering and/or weeding. Continue reading below for more details:
Over the past two years, Immanuel has embarked on a process to replace trees that had died and to replant specific areas of our property with new plants. This includes planting two trees in our front lawn to replace our large oak that stood watch over the pumpkin patch. Our two new oaks were planted in memory of Dick Hobson, chosen by his family and entrusted to our care. We also planted a new dogwood tree near the entrance to Zabriskie Chapel. These three trees are all thirsty, thirsty, thirsty -- and require our attention to make sure they thrive.

- Our first ask of you: Can you sign up to be a tree waterer? We need to have a waterer scheduled every week between now and November. We'll teach you what needs to be done, including how to check to see if they need water, and it shouldn't take more than one hour, two times per week, in the week you sign up for.
- Our second ask of you is a little more but still about watering AND can be done when you're watering the trees. Will you sign up to be a garden waterer? It's a little more moving around and getting wet and dirty, but still a fairly short job. Again, we'll show you how to do it, and it can be done when you are there watering the trees. This is one time per week, for about an hour.
- Our third and final ask, and this one's more substantive for sure. Would you sign up to be part of our weeding crew in the garden? While we have a monthly service that comes to do regular projects, trimming, and haul away, as any gardener knows, the task of weeding is one that requires regular attention. We'll train you on what needs to be done, and how to get rid of what you pull. You can do this on your own time, but since it does take a bit of extra training to get used to what's what in the beds, we'd like to have people who are willing to commit to at least one hour per week for multiple weeks over the summer (doesn't have to be consecutive weeks).
