Rector
The Rev. J. Randolph Alexander, Jr. (Randy) is Immanuel’s tenth Rector.
A Virginia native, Fr. Randy is a graduate of the University of Virginia, with High Distinction. He studied at Harvard Divinity School and then earned his M.Div., cum laude, at The General Theological Seminary in New York. He will soon be completing the Doctor of Ministry program at Virginia Seminary. His first call was as Curate at St. John’s Church in Larchmont, NY. He then he served as Assistant Rector at Old St. Paul’s Church in Baltimore, MD, followed by being an Assistant at Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Street, London, England. He was Rector of Christ Church in Pelham, N.Y. for thirteen years, where he was a Trustee of the Diocese of New York, a member of the Disciplinary Board, and a member of the Congregational Support Plan Committee. Fr. Randy is married to the Rev. Patricia Phaneuf Alexander, a 2001 graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary, who is Rector of St. Dunstan’s Church in Bethesda, MD. The Alexanders have three sons: William, Peter, and Andrew, and a feisty rescue dog. He serves our Diocese as Chair of the Committee on Priesthood, and a member of the Commission on Ministry. He was previously a member of the Standing Committee of the Diocese, Dean of the Alexandria Region, and a Deputy to the General Convention of the Episcopal Church. Randy’s prayer is that Immanuel may be, more and more, a place where we celebrate together the grace, forgiveness, and abundant life offered to us by Jesus Christ. |
