Bake for the Patch![]() Dear Bakers and Friends of Immanuel,
The 2021 Pumpkin Patch Bake Sale begins Saturday afternoon, October 2. We will set up the Bake Sale at about 3:00 p.m. You can drop off your contributions in the Parish Hall Kitchen any time before then. At the request of the Patch organizers, we pushed back the start time to avoid interfering with the truck unloading. Again this year, we are mechanizing the offloading from the delivery trucks. The forklift drivers and pallet jack operators need room to maneuver, and we don’t want to be in their way. Sarah Glassco and I will once again be co-leaders. New this year, we have assistant leaders each week. Kristin Whitman will be assistant leader for the first week (October 3-9) and Martha Shimkin will be assistant leader for the second week (October 10-16). Other names will be announced soon. We are so very grateful to Kristin and Martha for helping us out this year. They will help us do the full range of activities to keep our bakery cases clean and well-stocked with fresh, tempting treats. You may receive emails from them with bake sale needs and customer requests. We are continuing COVID protocols this year. Please make sure your donations are packaged for individual sale and labeled with all ingredients. For cupcakes and muffins, this means that you use a paper baking cup. For other items, please use cellophane wrap, a plastic bag, or a paper bag with a clear window. Connie Kurz purchased 500 paper bags with windows and has offered to share them. You also can find attractive packaging at Michaels, Party Depot and discount stores like Home Goods. You can use computer-generated adhesive labels from Avery and other office suppliers, or just make your own. The updated 2021 Bake Sale flyer is above and here. It gives details about pricing, packaging and labeling. We are keeping prices consistent with 2020—except for cupcakes which we raised to $1.50. This price reflects rising ingredient costs, notably the 10-fold increase in vanilla prices. In closing, thank you so much for your bake sale contributions. We welcome anything you care to make or purchase for donation. If you have any questions, kindly let me know. -- Laura Snow |
